Squirrels in the Park

It was record-breaking warn yesterday, so Sue and I went for a wee stroll in the park. Aside from a million geese, I followed a squirrel with my camera. Suddenly, there were two squirrels in the frame.

I had been tracking the one on the right, but suddenly there was another on the left. Were they about to quarrel?

Phew! No quarrel. In fact they were on very friendly terms and even cuddled more after this shot.

Off we go!

Cute little ones.. probably from the same litter. At Frank's place, there are three that come by regularly to mooch peanuts. Mama (easily recognized by the white tip on her otherwise black tail) comes right up to the deck and looks us right in the eye while standing tall. One of her "triplets" from a couple of season's ago, lives one tree over from her and has learned her peanut-begging antics. A little less aware (until peanuts appear to be dropping out of the sky), is one younger child from this year's birthing. They're fun creatures.

I love the last shot though they almost look ratlike.

they seem to be in a more amicable season of life. there's less tusselling around here. there're amazingly tough falling from 20 or 30 feet in a missed grab of a jump and then keep moving. they have good shocks.
